Motte Klamotte started with a simple idea back in 2015:
To create clothes we’d love to wear ourselves – with our own designs, carefully selected textiles, and as much work as possible done in our own workshop.
We love fashion, new styles, and fresh pieces. At the same time, we think it’s important to look a little closer: Where do our textiles come from? What materials are used? And how can we approach our own production process?
That’s why we choose our blanks and products carefully and look for clear information about materials and manufacturing. Where supporting documentation is available, you’ll find the specific details on the individual product page.
We finish many of our products ourselves in our small workshop in Northern Hesse, Germany. This is where our designs take shape, where we print, sew, and work on new ideas.
A large part of our designs is created using screen printing. We use water-based, vegan printing inks, unless otherwise stated on the individual product page. We also take care of embroidery and other finishing steps ourselves.
The result? Pieces with our own look – sometimes simple, sometimes colourful, sometimes a little weird. As long as they feel like us.
Not everything is made in-house. We source beanies, caps, backpacks, and other products from selected manufacturers. You’ll find the materials and specific properties of each item in its product description.
We want you to know what you’re buying and who’s behind Motte Klamotte. That’s why we try to describe our products as clearly and accurately as possible – without making big promises we can’t back up.
Motte Klamotte isn’t a big company. It’s a small project with a lot of heart.
The person behind the brand, the designs, the printing process, and most of the ideas is “Micha”.
Lisa jumps in whenever things get busy: new collections, printing, social media … or pretty much wherever an extra pair of hands is needed. Especially when a new release is coming up, it’s all hands on deck.
And of course, Micha’s lovely mum is part of the team too. She works behind the scenes, making sure everything gets finished, and patiently sews the tags and patches onto our textiles – so each piece is ready to make its way to you.
A lot of our design ideas also come to life in our tattoo studio, “Gute Stube”, right in the pedestrian zone of Fritzlar’s beautiful old town.
If you’d like, you’re welcome to stop by the studio by appointment, have a look around, and check out our clothes in person. We only have a very limited selection available on site, so please send us an email beforehand. Depending on availability, we can bring the pieces you’re interested in, so you can try them on at your leisure.
